Description

The practicum minor is designed for students wishing to meet the requirements for professional registration as a counsellor and includes working off campus under supervision with real clients. To ensure the student’s readiness to assume these additional responsibilities applicants are required to demonstrate psychological mindedness and the readiness for ethical practice. Superior performance in the selected subjects are a measure of the student’s well‐rounded professional capacity appropriate at the current level of training that includes relational capacity, self awareness and ethical competence. Entry to the Counselling Practicum Minor requires: Satisfactory completion of the following Subjects:

With a grade of at least a Distinction in:

or with the permission of the course coordinator. And Completion of a minor in Psychology.

The two Field Education subjects accompany the student’s graded practice under close supervision. In addition the student enrols in two Counselling Applications subjects in order to study specific applications of counselling to selected professional issues or types of clients.
