On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

Apply specialised knowledge about the interface between young people and legal frameworks that apply to their care.
Demonstrate advanced skills to engage collaboratively with young people, build therapeutic relationships, and work with their families to create positive outcomes.
Apply advanced knowledge and technical skills for working with young people within complex systems and know where and when to refer them for help.
This unit explores the practical complex issues associated with working with young people. It explores ethical and legal frameworks. How to navigate the government, health, and other service systems in Australia, and know which referral pathway to use. It explores issues of power and stigma and how to advocate for good outcomes. It builds skills for listening, establishing repour, empathy, working with families.
