Introductory units in linguistics and cultural anthropology to allow the student to benefit from independent study together with approval of the Subject Coordinator based on the student’s previous results and capacity for independent study.

Unit Description

This unit allows students to investigate in some depth a particular aspect of applied linguistics of their own choosing, under the supervision of a staff member. It is based on extensive reading determined in conjunction with the supervisor.

Teaching Strategies

The supervisor, in consultation with the student, will develop a study plan which will detail the specific outcomes and the assessment criteria. The student will participate in regular (at least fortnightly) meetings with the supervisor.
