Unit Description

In this unit students will read a number of literary texts that have shaped or reflected, philosophy (worldview) and civilisation. It looks at how civilisation is in part created by philosophy and literature and in part responding to the same. It explores the formation and attributes of a Christian worldview and how these are found in literature and in the interpretation of literature. It explores the creation of mood, matter and style, use of metaphor and other figures, authorial voice, and point of view as literary techniques. It addresses issues of authorial intent and reader response.
