On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of events and personalities that influenced a fast changing world since 1945
Analyse key historical events and forces that have shaped the contemporary world
Utilise data from selected primary and secondary sources in explaining major historical events since 1945.
Present analytical evidence-based perspectives on world history since 1945
This unit will explore key political, economic and social developments since 1945. Drawing on a range of methodologies of historiography, it will provide students with an historical framework and conceptual tools to more fully understand the world they live in.
Teaching strategies include some or all of the following: lectures, tutorials and workshops, all of which include the use of digital technologies; online interactions e.g. forums, message boards; web-based research; group work; class discussions; excursions; and guest presenters.
