On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Interrogate the role of the National Professional Standards for Teachers, and reflect upon and identify personal professional learning needs.
Investigate sources of professional learning for teachers, both internal and external to schools, including external professionals and community representatives.
Evaluate professional learning needs that have implications for improved student learning.
Debate the role of parents and other stakeholders in school learning communities and evaluate strategies for working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers.
Identify and critically appraise school-based issues that have implications for student learning.
Critically investigate the purposes and processes of classroom-based action research to inform and improve teaching and learning.
