Reflective Practice is a capstone unit that attempts to draw together students’ learning throughout the Master of Counselling. It provides opportunity to reflect on and synthesise personal, theoretical and practical learning and to respond to these reflections through a minor capstone project.
Students in CN9700 support each other in debriefing and summarising their masters journey as well as thinking forward towards their coming career. Lessons incorporate one-to-one peer debriefing sessions as well as group discussions and reflection activities. Assessments include a series of short reflection papers focusing on particularly impactful or difficult units of learning engaged in during graduate study, a capstone project proposal that incorporates elements of self-examination, and the capstone project itself in which students will have the opportunity to make use of counselling skills, theories and principles to engage with their community or a particular practice population.
Assessment types include Reflection Paper, Project, and Attendance. Indicative study load is 150 hours.
