Unit Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge for education support workers to undertake administration and basic computer tasks in the education environment where administration is not the main focus of work.

The unit commences by discussing written documentation with learners introduced to forms and other administrative documents. Particular importance is placed upon presenting written information and ideas in a clear and concise manner so the intended purpose is understood by the recipient.

The learner is then introduced to school information systems with instruction on accessing information through these systems while considering organisation guidelines including security and confidentiality.

Discussion then moves towards managing enquiries in accordance with school policies and procedures. Techniques for managing verbal, written and recorded messages are all demonstrated.

The unit concludes by discussing how technology can be used to support administrative and education support activities.
