Unit Description
The unit identifies and describes key Christian concepts essential to the growth and maturity of every Christ follower:
Topics
- An understanding of what it means to be made in the image of God will be explored, along with the implications of that truth in one’s daily life both individually and corporately.
- The great Christian traditions of Christian faith will be outlined. Emphasis will be given to the need for believers to be non-dualistic in their approach to traditions that differ from their own.
- A consideration of the human condition will be undertaken and time allowed for spiritual and theological reflection in regard to one’s own struggles with emotional and spiritual pressures.
- The role of the spiritual disciplines in deepening one’s spiritual life will be examined and students will be encouraged to develop their own personal ‘rule of life’.
- An understanding of vocation and its significance for personal and professional development will be outlined.
- The connection between a person’s inner world and outward behaviour will be contemplated, particularly in regard to the way in which believers relate to others.
