On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Explain the implications of being created in the image of God as foundational for personal identity and as a framework for personal living including your (chosen or potential) vocation or professional life.
Describe the basis of Christian vocation and identify personal outworkings for becoming ethical and effective professionals in your (chosen or potential) vocation.
Identify the core elements of an integrated Christian life to exemplify interpersonal, written, and digital communication to promote safe, respectful, just and supportive interactions, holistic wellbeing and servant leadership.
Describe what it means to live a life of Christian faith that promotes spiritual formation, Biblical shalom, and personal and social transformation and justice.
This unit explores the fundamental issue of personal identity in the image of God and its outworking in personal living and one’s chosen or prospective profession, vocation or career. The unit identifies and describes key concepts essential to the growth and maturity of followers of Christ including a framework for spiritual formation that has a plan for activating the spiritual disciplines. The nature of purposeful living as a Christ follower, with insights and wisdom gleaned from the various Christian traditions, is explored. These are examined for application to the student’s own personal life and chosen or potential vocation. The Biblical ideas of shalom, peace, the flourishing life, the redemption of all things, forgiveness, grace, acceptance, social justice, and transformation are explored for ethical and effective application and outworking in their personal and professional life.
Teaching strategies include: lectures and tutorials; weekend schools; class discussions; presentation of instructional material in the form of printed documentation, DVD, video and audio tape and online interaction.
