On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

• Describe different theories, models and methods of creativity.

• Analyse the various definitions and theories of art from a philosophical and historical perspective.

• Critically Evaluate personal implementation of a creative process from a Christian worldview

• Apply innovative skills, techniques, methods or processes to produce an art work

Unit Description

This unit of study introduces students to the philosophical underpinnings of art and creativity. Students will examine their own attitudes towards visual and creative arts. They will combine analytical thinking about creativity and the arts with practical development of their own creative processes and exploration of art making practices, culminating in the production of a creative work to exhibit. Students will engage with fundamental analytical tools of philosophy and traditional concepts and theories of and art.

Students will be encouraged to visit galleries and attend seminars by other artists.
