On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
Identify the biblical, historical and systematic foundations for the development of the doctrine of the Trinity.
Evaluate and analyse current controversies regarding the Trinity and their relevance for contemporary issues including the role of women in Church Leadership, and the missional nature of the Church.
Assess and apply key theological insights around the Trinity to the Mission of the Church
Identify and evaluate differing scholarly views on the Trinity
The Doctrine of the Trinity is perhaps one of the most defining aspects of Christianity and our understanding of God. This Unit will examine the biblical and historical foundations of the doctrine as it emerged from the New Testament, through the early church, and culminating in the declarations at the Council of Nicaea.
Two important aspects of Trinitarian theology will be explored in relationship to two critical areas of the Church’s life. The role of the Missional Church and the role of Women in leadership.

This unit may be available in different modes of delivery i.e. online and face-to-face as listed above. The unit content will not differ between these modes of delivery. There will possibly be a difference in the schedule and/or the prescribed assessment tasks, however both will cover and assess the same content.
