Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

Unit Description

This unit will provide students with a structured environment for development and formation (theological, spiritual, ministerial and/or missional) in the context of practical ministry and/or mission experience. At the conclusion of the unit, the student is expected to be able to evaluate their internship experience, evidence development in practical skills and personal character commensurate with a developing vocation in ministry/mission.

The unit will utilise some or all of the following:

  1. internships / field placements that provide significant opportunity for the practice and development of skills relevant to the student,
  2. a structured teaching / lecturing program that practically prepares the student with knowledge and skills that will facilitate effective ministry and/or mission work,
  3. contexts for action-reflection learning in order to foster personal development and continuous improvement, and/or
  4. mentoring / supervisorial relationships that sharpen skills and nurtures development.

Teaching Strategies

Teaching strategies may include: lectures, tutorials and weekend schools; class discussions; field trips; presentation of instructional material in the form of printed documentation, DVD, video and audio tape and online interaction; and the use of ministry observations and critical incident reports.

Students will also learn from personal study and reflection, preparation of assignments, assessment comments on their work and debriefing interview with module supervisor.
