Relationship to competency standards

Unit Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for a learner to evaluate and enhance their practice through a process of reflection and ongoing professional development. The unit applies to learners completing an industry/ministry placement in a wide range of community and industry sectors.

The unit begins by outlining the importance of establishing a supervisory relationship for the term of the placement. Once the placement has commenced there are regular opportunities for the learner to reflect and to engage with experienced practitioners. The learner is encouraged to evaluate various placement activities with particular emphasis placed upon critical incidents. By the end of the unit the learner shall have established their own personalised plan for ministry and professional development.
