On successful completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

Unit Description

This subject examines various kinds of religious experience. The traditions of these religions and the scholarship on them are considered using philosophical techniques. These techniques shall be applied to critically evaluate the claims of experiences in areas of knowledge and ethics by the different religions.

The subject shall then evaluate the theories of mysticism and mystical experiences of the different religions. The subject shall conclude by reviewing contemporary writing on the relationship between religious and mystical experience and contemporary science.
