One of the important qualities of a teacher is self-understanding. This unit highlights the Christian educator’s unique perspective on their vocation and the children and systems they serve. Students will grapple with major philosophies of education in contemporary Australia, how they were shaped and the impact they have on schools and school systems. Students are invited to examine their experiences and understandings of the Christian faith and engage thoughtfully around how it impacts and is influenced by wider education philosophies. They are invited to reflect deeply on their own beliefs of what a Christian educator is, and develop a meaningful personal philosophy of education and consider how this will affect their future practice.
