Unit Description

The unit is designed to allow a student to gain experience in a community/ministry setting where there is an emphasis upon participating in, and designing cooperative arrangements. A wide range of community/ministry situations are possible and the student is encouraged to seek a placement which provides a suitable context for them to grow in ministry experience, utilise their gifting and talents, engage in a range of community activities, and be adequately supervised and mentored in their task.

After deciding upon a suitable ministry option the student shall submit a proposal to the Unit Co-ordinator. Once approved (with revisions if deemed necessary) a formal placement agreement is concluded between the student and their supervisor. The student shall then complete the placement while adhering to the terms of the placement, the organisational guidelines for ministry and any regulatory issues. The student shall maintain a journal throughout the placement where ongoing reflection will be required. The student shall also attend placement training as indicated in the schedule below.

At the conclusion of the unit, the student shall conduct an evaluation of their ministry placement in conjunction with their supervisor. Their supervisor shall then submit a confidential Feedback report.
