Description

The Psychology major is designed to provide students with a solid grasp of key psychology discipline areas, noting both theory and application, so that as practitioners they are competent to work within a variety of integrated mental health settings. The major sequence in Psychology takes note of the burgeoning field of psychobiology as a metaphor for current best‐practice in mental health and the increasing sophistication of the counselling profession as one now reliant on empirical methods and analysis. The interaction of Christian faith is explored through an historical and philosophical perspective. This major sequence provides necessary skills for students to pursue further study and is designed to align with Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) standards. The Psychology major complements the major in Counselling and so provide student counsellors with a strong nexus between theory and practice.
