Description

Philosophy is the oldest academic discipline in universities and in the organisations for teaching that existed before universities began. In general, philosophy studies questions about knowledge and reason, freedom and ethics, justice and a good society, and the nature of beauty in a good life. The subjects in the philosophy minor are built around these questions and some of the answers given to them. Students who study these subjects will enter this great tradition and develop critical thinking skills: how to think about faith and freedom; how to shape one’s own thinking in conversation with the questions that have shaped the philosophy tradition. The Minor includes one subject specifically about the regional and world religious traditions, while all other subjects contain resources and skills appropriate to the study of theology and comparative religion.
